West Bloomfield Woman Dies, Husband Injured in Oakland County Crash

A 56 year old West Bloomfield woman was killed and her husband injured in a motorcycle accident Sunday, July 31st on South Holly Road. The rider was driving his motorcycle on his 58th birthday. The wife was a passenger when the motorcycle, having crossed the centerline, collided with a Ford F-150 pickup head-on. Both riders were ejected.
According to the State Police, “It was a real tight curve and he wasn’t real familiar with the roadway and went across the centerline.” The husband remains in critical condition at an area hospital. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash.
A very well known riding instructor offers this advice on cornering…….”It’s better to go into a corner slow and come out fast, than go into a corner fast and not come out at all. Never accelerate before you can see the exit. Too many riders crash because they accelerate before they have finished turning.” Unfortunately, this 58 year old rider, either did not know these principles or neglected to practice them.
